RabbitHoles Launches Limited Edition Holographic Portraits of President Obama
Background on President ObamaSince the beginning of the Civil Rights Era African Americans have made tremendous advances, culminating recently with the first African American to reach the zenith of political power. In 2009, Barack Hussein Obama, the son of an African father and a white American mother, predominantly raised in Hawaii by his maternal grandparents, took the oath of office as President of the United States having rapidly ascended through the ranks of American politics. Graduating from Harvard Law School, Obama had moved in 1988 to Chicago where he began his career as an attorney, a university instructor and a community organizer. His entry into politics began with the Illinois State Legislature as a congressman. Shortly thereafter he became only the fifth African American in history to hold office as a U.S. Senator, basing much of his campaign on a stance of opposition to the war in Iraq, during a period when few politicians were prepared to speak out against it. Declaring his candidacy for President in 2007, Obama promoted a platform of ending the War, striving for energy independence and making health care universal. He was elected the first African American President of the United States of America on November 4, 2008 and was sworn into that office on January 20, 2009. Rising to the leadership of the United States stands as one of the last remaining milestones of true equality for African Americans.
